This has truly become GVA's garden! We get dirty but with all the shade of the trees and our big black hats, we manage to stay out of the sun. So, don't worry, you won't catch fire. But, you may catch the gardening bug! INFO: GVA Volunteers have spent the last year and a half helping to restore the Old Town Native Garden so that the local Kumeyaay Tribe can come in and teach people about how native plants can be used and to perform demonstrations related to kitchen gardening techniques. Please come by for an hour or two and help out! The California Native Plant Society garden leaders are very nice and welcome GVA members to participate. We recommend that if you have gloves for gardening and any gardening/weed pulling tools, that you bring them. We do have the ability to supply them for you, otherwise. Wear comfortable clothes for gardening, sunscreen and a hat. We meet every month on the second Saturday. 1pm to 3pm. If it's raining, the event is canceled. WHERE: Old Town, San Diego. Meet at the McCoy House, just south of Congress and Taylor Street. The garden is located across the street from the Old Town Transit Center. Park in the lot immediately to the east, on Calhoun Street, off of Taylor Street. | ||
